From what i gather ninjitsu is more of a culture that combines diffrent aspects of martial arts and other skills into ninjitsu

Hi I'm Kieran, new to this board. I attended the demo class the other day and really enjoyed it and deeply impressed with everyone who took the class (obviously including the sifu)! Some of you may have noticed me asking a load of questions! haha Anyways....I'm a second dan in an organisation called the 'Bujinkan', which you can read more about here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bujinkan_Budo_TaijutsuAnnddd....just incase you can't be bothered I'll do a small explanation here anyway: Within the bujinkan 3 of the schools are ninjutsu ryu the other 6 are jujutsu schools. That being said, only one of them has any hand to hand combat in it...which is derived from Gyokko ryu Koshijutsu (which is one of the non-ninjutsu schools within the bujinkan) So 'Ninjutsu' schools do play a fairly large part in what we learn, but it's not the only thing we learn. It's worth noting that there are two other organisations who also teach pretty much the same system (they were created because of arguments over how the 9 styles of martial art within the bujinkan should be taught. Thus spawning the Genbukan and the Jinenkan, they teach the same arts but through different methods...all political and way over my head! xD I'd be happy to come along to one of the experimental sessions and show you what the bujinkan has to offer, I think you'll find a lot of the principals run alongside each other, so our respective arts would slot together quite nicely I think. All the best, see you around campus ect! ~Kieran

yer id like to lern some stuff from you, ninjitsu has always interested me but i dont know much about it. It seems like a martial art with sound principles which is what matters most to me. (hence i do wing chun over all the other martial arts i have tryed) it would be good to do some training. Dan

Uhh SleepyJohnny...I think you've got the wrong end of the stick. Naruto uses the term 'ninjutsu', which is actually an historical japanese term with an etemology thats stems way back further in time than 'naruto'. In essence Naruto took a term and set of principles and expanded them to a ridiculous level purely for entertainment purposes. The Ninjutsu of Naruto is not what is being discussed here (or at least it's not the real purpose of this thread) and it's not what people from say, the Bujinkan, study. It is based loosely on things that they do study however, Like "taijutsu" and "Kuji-in" for example, but there is no need to go into that here and I don't know a great deal (practically speaking) about the latter. Hope that clears things up.
