Dan I notice in the contents of your book the variances in stepping techniues:
Biu Ma – thrusting stepping Big Ma – Jamming stepping
I was just wondering if these both appear in Chum Kui and what are the obvious differences?
Thanks Neil

Yes these are both from Chum Kiu and from what Sifu has explained to me the step itself is essentially the same. However the differance is when perfoming a low bong sau you will be Jaming the attack using you stepping (i.e. stopping it from finishing) where as when using biu Ma you will be covering/deflecting the attack and moving yourself out of the way (presumably to somewhere you can strike your opponent).
So there is no obvious differance from what I understand, the only real differance is in application.
Hope that helps Dan

Thanks, yeah that does make sense now I think about it. So its about how you use the footwork more than the stance its self.
Thanks
