I can't remember where but i think i remember reading once that the most likely age group to be victims of crime was suprisingly young adults. I always thought that statisticly it would be old people. How i see things, if we train 10 techniques in class, of all of them, you will probably remember only a few the day after. Of that few, one technique may be the one that actually gets engraved instinctively. Out of all 10, it could be that 1 technique that could save ur bacon one day. Even if its just simply sticking a guard up to gain that distance from somone, you might not be profficient at wing chun, but a simple little thing could be all thats needed to give u the oppotunity to fight or flight. Training that reaction is really important, your reactions may be fine in class, but in the street when youve had a fair few, youll only be at a fraction of your true wing chun ability. That one technique thats stuck in your head, e.g lap & fak could be the one thing that seperates you from walking away intact instead of lieing on the curb somwhere in a bloody mess.
