I emailed LU Cinema about us showing a trailer at the beginning of some of their films and they replied:
Tom, thanks for your email.
The Cinema has always shown "pre-ad slides" usually promoting us and
future films etc. However, in the last year or so, certain departments
and societies have asked to show slides for them advertising specific
events or just general promotion.
We would be more than happy to show a slide on behalf of Wing Chun.
All you need to do is provide a Powerpoint slide and we will include
it in the next lot of slides done by our e-publicity officer.

This service is free and will be shown (if a general promo) before
every film showing - we have over 8,000 students come to the cinema
each year so it would be seen by a good majority of campus!!
In the meantime, i would like to take this opportunity to detail what
other services the cinema can offer you as a society.
We offer group discounts on any film we show in the term. This means
that the society chooses a film they think their members would like to
see and then we offer a particular screening that members can come and
see at a discounted rate (with a purple card this would mean £1 - half
the price of a standard ticket). This has been a particular hit with
many societies in the past, including the LGBT, Manga & Anime and
Ballroom Dancing Society.
Alternatively, if you would like us to screen a particular film for
your members only, then you can actually hire the cinema and we can
show a film on your behalf. This would involve you paying for the hire
of the
cinema (£10) and the hire of a projectionist (£50). You would also
have to pay for the film (usually between £100-£120). This way would
involve a bit more budgeting your end, but we have had a number of
societies that have utilized this offer to great effect. We can show
the film any time you like (after taking into consideration our normal
film schedule of course) and we will cater to your needs as best we
can. You will need to think about this one more closely however, but
it could be a possible money making event for your society!!

So it doesn't look like they play actual trailers, but I can do a cool looking slide with some details on it to show before films.
Also, the group booking thing sounds pretty cool, if anything comes up that we want to watch. Should consider that for a social.
The guys about the underpass still haven't got in touch with me. I'm starting to think that that email ad might have been incorrect. I'll ask about a bit and find out exactly who I have to speak to about it.
